This university endorsed course is designed to guide students to develop their creative potential. Students gain skills and confidence through Fine Arts practices, using a variety of painting, drawing and image making processes and materials.
Emphasis will be on students own exploration and experimentation, and the tasks are based within the study of professional contemporary artists. Painting assessment units are fun projects that are easy for students to engage in, based around the students’ choice of themes and to suit their style of working.
A range of painting styles will be explored including Expressionism and Realism, Maori Art and Abstraction. Drawing and painting tuition is provided throughout the course.
Recommended Prior Learning
Level 1 in Visual Arts, Photography or Sculpture are preferred, but not essential. Entry for beginners will be at the discretion of the Teacher in Charge, Ms Malcolm.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
An Art pack is strongly recommended and is usually ordered directly from Gordon Harris.
Pathway
Level 2 painting can lead onto sculpture, photography, and design at level 3 with approval from the HOD
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
