NCEA Level 3 Music
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs M. Stunell.
Level 3 Music follows on from Level 2 Music.
This course is divided into four main areas
- Performing music as a soloist
- Performing music as a member of a group
- Study and research a Music topic
- Compose music and songs
All students will be offered free instrumental tuition in piano, guitar, drums and voice.
Career Pathways include, Musician, Teacher, Music Producer, Composer, Sound Engineer and Music Therapist
Recommended Prior Learning
The prerequisite for 13 Music is at least achieving the performance standards at Level 2 Music or please see Mrs Stunell to confirm that you meet the standard so you can be successful in this subject.
Level 3 Music is mainly performance based. Students need to be capable of performing songs or pieces of music on an instrument or as a singer to a reasonably high standard. As part of 13 Music, students will perform as a soloist and as a member of a group.
