No prerequisites but a dance history or Maori performing arts is an advantage.
Level 1 Dance offers students the opportunity to explore dance as a powerful form of expression and communication. Through this course, students will:
Develop Performance Skills: Learn and perform dance sequences, enhancing technique, musicality, and expressive abilities.
Choreograph Original Works: Create dance pieces in response to various stimuli, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.
Understand Dance Elements: Gain knowledge of movement, space, time, and energy to inform both performance and choreography.
Reflect and Analyze: Evaluate personal and peer performances to deepen understanding and improve future work.
This course emphasises collaboration, cultural appreciation, and the development of confidence through movement.

Level 1 Dance is ideal for students eager to express themselves physically, work collaboratively, and immerse themselves in the dynamic world of dance.
A minimum of 15 credits will be offered in this course for 2024
