NCEA Level 2 Physics

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs E. Butterworth

Recommended Prior Learning

In order to gain entrance into Level 2 Physics students are required to gain 14 Credits or better in NCEA Level 1 Science. As part of this requirement students must Achieve at least 8 external credits, 4 of which must come from the Mechanics external.

It is also highly recommended that students pass the following Mathematics papers:

  • 91032   Apply right-angled triangles in solving measurement problems
  • 91028   Investigate relationships between tables, equations and graphs
  • 91027   Apply algebraic procedures in solving problems

A study of Mechanics, Optics, Electricity and Nuclear Physics with Energy the theme, integrating the whole course.  As physics is heavily mathematics based a strong understanding of Level 1 Mathematics is recommended.
